Exploring the Intercultural Competence and Inclusive Practice: A Case Study of International Students in the Education for Diversity and Inclusion Program at Masaryk University

Abstract:

This case study explores how international students in the Education for Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) program, Faculty of Education at Masaryk University understand and develop intercultural competence and inclusive practices. Using a qualitative case study design based on semi-structured interviews with five international students, the research examines personal interpretations of competence and the academic experien- ces that shape learning. The findings show that student perspectives evolve from basic respect toward deeper empathy and reflexivity through guided learning and peer inter- action. The study also identifies challenges such as language barriers and communica- tion differences in multicultural environment.
