The image of the war in literature for children

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje obrazu války v literatuře pro děti. Současný knižní trh je plný knih s válečnou tematikou a tematikou holocaustu. Autoři píšící knihy pro dětské čtenáře, pokládají za důležité se k těmto tématům vracet a zprostředkovat jim tak nenásilnou cestou zásadní dějinné události, které se odehrály v civilizované moderní společnosti, kdy jsme jako lidé a naše společnost dosáhli zatím největšího vývoje a pokroku. Snaží se o to, aby neschematizovali a nezlehčovali problematiku války a další s ní úzce související témata, jako například tematiku smrti. Teoretická část je věnována analýzám a interpretacím válečné literatury pro děti a mládež tří knižních titulů od spisovatelů Uriho Orleva, Lois Lowryové a Markuse Zusaka. Následně budou zhodnoceny a zařazeny k možným činnostem v rámci školní docházky.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is devoted images of war in literature for children. The current book market is full of books about war and Holocaust issues. Authors writing books for children and young readers consider it very important to return to these issues and convey the readers a non-violent way of a major historical event that took place in a civilized modern society when we as people and our society have achieved the greatest development and progress so far. They are trying not to disguise and mitigate the issue of war and other closely related topics, such as the theme of death. The theoretical part is devoted to analyzes and interpretations of war literature for children and youth of three books from writers Uri Orlev, Lois Lowry and Markus Zusak. Subsequently, they will be evaluated and included in the possible activities within the school attendance.
