Relationship between Locus of control and experiencing isolation during a pandemic

Abstract:

Zkoumanou problematikou této práce je souvislost mezi osobnostní charakteristikou locus of control a prožíváním izolace během pandemie covidu-19. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda jedincovo zaměření v locus of control souvisí s jeho prožíváním izolace během pandemie covidu-19, zejména s prožíváním nudy během ní. Vzhledem k předmětu výzkumu byl zvolen kvantitativní přístup. Data byla získávána pomocí dotazníku, respondenty byly vysokoškolští studenti studující po celou dobu pandemie. Dle výsledků se neprokázala statistická souvislost mezi jedincovým zaměřením v locus of control a prožíváním nudy, schopností se ve volném čase zaměstnat, postrádáním sociálního kontaktu a preferencí výuky. Ukázalo se však, že interně zaměření lidé (oproti externě zaměřeným lidem) trávili více času plněním svých povinností a období pandemie hodnotili častěji jako náročné.

Abstract:

The problem investigated in this work is the connection between the personality characteristics of the locus of control and the experience of isolation during the covid-19 pandemic. The aim of the work is to find out whether the individual's focus in the locus of control is related to his experience of isolation during the covid-19 pandemic, especially to the experience of boredom during it. Due to the subject of the research, a quantitative approach was chosen. The data was collected using a questionnaire, the respondents were university students studying throughout the pandemic. According to the results, no statistical association was proven between the orientation of the individual's focus in the locus of control and the experience of boredom, the ability to employ oneself in free time, the lack of social contact and the preference for teaching. However, it turned out that internally oriented people (compared to externally oriented)spent more time on their duties and rated the pandemic period more often as demanding.
