The impact of the increase in public transportation fares on students of Brno universities

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo prozkoumat dopady rozhodnutí vlády o změně studentské slevy na MHD pro studenty brněnských vysokých škol. Zároveň zjistit, kolik studentů do Brna dojíždí a jak se jich tato změna dotkne. Případně navrhnout opatření na podporu těchto studentů. V průběhu výzkumu, byli studenti dotazováni prostřednictvím anonymních dotazníků (103 studentů) nebo prostřednictvím osobních rozhovorů (32 studentů). Také zjistit, zda tato změna ovlivní studenty v jejich osobním životě na jejich finanční stránce nebo jejich rozhodování o používání veřejné dopravy. Pro některé studenty to znamenalo omezení výdajů na dopravu. Byl navržen bodový systém pro možnost finanční podpory dojíždějících studentů, který by mohl být využit v regionálním rozvoji k přilákání talentovaných studentů, kteří si kvůli snazší a levnější dostupnosti vybírají jiné vysoké školy.

Abstract:

The aim of the work was to examine the effects of the government's decision to change the student discount on public transport for students of Brno universities. At the same time, find out how many students commute to Brno and how this change will affect them. Alternatively, propose measures to support these students. During the research, students were interviewed through anonymous questionnaires (103 students) or through personal interviews (32 students). Also to find out if this change will affect students in their personal life in terms of their finances or their decisions about using public transport. For some students, this meant cutting back on transportation expenses. A point system was proposed for the possibility of financial support for commuter students, which could be used in regional development to attract talented students who choose other universities due to easier and cheaper accessibility.
