Power Transition Theory - A peaceful transition of power from the USA to China?

Abstract:

Presented thesis focuses on power transition theory which deals with systemic power transitions within the international order. The theory is being applied to the relation between the US which is a dominant power in the hierarchically organized international system and China which appears to be a potential challenger to the position of the US and to the system as a whole. The aim of the thesis is to propose specific strategies and policies for the US foreign policy which need to be pursued in order to ensure the peacefulness of this power transition to China and to show that the armed conflict between the two is not inevitable.

Abstract:

Predkladaná bakalárska práca sa zameriava na teóriu presunu moci, ktorá sa zaoberá systémovými presunmi moci v rámci medzinárodného systému. Teória je aplikovaná na vzťah USA, ktoré sú dominantným štátom hierarchicky usporiadaného medzinárodného systému, a Číny, ktorá môže byť potencionálnym vyzývateľom pozície USA a celého systému. Cieľom práce je navrhnúť konkrétne stratégie a politiky pre americkú zahraničnú politiku, ktoré je potrebné nasledovať, aby bol zabezpečený mierový presun moci k Číne, a dokázať, že ozbrojený konflikt medzi týmito krajinami nie je nevyhnutný.
