Problems of Children´s Palliative Care in Services for the South Moravian Region

Abstract:

Cíl: Práce se zaměřuje na rodiny žijící v Jihomoravském kraji (JMK). Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda mají rodiny a pečující o děti do 18 let vyžadující paliativní péči snadný přístup k informacím ohledně zdravotních a sociálních služeb, zda jsou jim tyto služby dostupné a jak jsou spokojeni s úrovní kvality. Metodika: Praktická část práce je realizována pomocí vlastního dotazníku, který byl rodinám a pečujícím distribuován on-line. Před tímto dotazníkovým šetřením probíhalo mapování terénu pomocí neoficiálních na sobě nezávislých rozhovorů a ověřováním veřejně dostupných informací dostupných v registru poskytovatelů sociálních služeb. Na dotazníkovém šetření se podílelo 32 respondentů. Toto dotazníkové šetření probíhalo v měsících březen až květen 2020. Výsledky: Z ověřování informací v registru sociálních služeb vyplynulo, že ne všechny uvedené informace jsou aktuální čí pravdivé. Dotazníkové šetření ukázalo, že většina rodin a pečujících o dítě vyžadující paliativní péči do 18 let nemá snadný přístup k informacím a dostupnost těchto služeb je pro většinu náročná. Kvalitu hodnotili většinou průměrně. Závěr: Snadný přistup k informacím ohledně zdravotních a sociálních služeb je prvním krokem, jak rodina může získat přístup k organizaci poskytující potřebnou službu. Pokud má rodina a pečující dostatek informací na koho se mohou v těžkých časech obrátit, samotný už tak dosti náročný proces, který může trvat i řadu let, jim tuto situaci může viditelně ulehčit. Výsledky dotazníkového šetření a seznam dostupných služeb na území JMK pro děti do 18 let, vytvořený na základě ověřování informací z registru poskytovatelů bude sloužit nejen rodinám ale i ošetřujícím lékařům, kteří jsou v první linii při sdělování závažné zprávy. Budou tak hned moci rodinu a pečující odkázat na další potřebnou pomoc.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of the study was to determine whether families and caregivers of children under 18 requiring palliative care have easy access to information about health and social services, whether these services are available to them and how satisfied they are with the level of its quality. This study is focusing on the target group living in the South-Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. Methodology: The collection of data for this research has been conducted using a non-standardized questionnaire, which was distributed to families and caregivers online. Prior to this questionnaire survey, preliminary research has been made based on unofficial independent interviews and verification of publicly available information accessed through the register of social service providers. The questionnaire survey took place from March to May of 2020, collecting data from 32 respondents. Results: The verification of information sourced from the register of social services showed that not all the information provided is updated or true. The questionnaire survey showed that most families and caregivers of a child requiring palliative care under the age of 18 do not have easy access to information. For most, the availability of these services is demanding and its quality has been evaluated as average. Conclusion: Easy access to information about health and social services is the first step in finding access the organization providing the necessary service. If the family and the caregivers have enough information to whom they can turn to in these difficult times, the already quite demanding process itself, possibly taking many years, can visibly alleviate this situation for them. The result of the questionnaire survey and the list of available services in the South Moravian Region for children under 18 years of age, created on the basis of verification of information from the register of providers will serve not only families but also attending doctors who are at the forefront of communicating such serious message. The results will then enable this personnel to be able to immediately refer the family and caregivers to necessary help.
