Coordination of Health Insurance and Health Care in the European Union

Abstract:

V této diplomové práci čtenáři objasňujeme zdravotní pojištění a zdravotní péči v České republice a ve vybraných zemích Evropské unie. V České republice je veřejné zdravotní pojištění velmi důležitou součástí zdravotnictví, jelikož se z pojištění financuje poskytování zdravotní péče. Zdravotní péčí mají lékaři za cíl pomoci pojištěnci zlepšit, ustálit nebo zmírnit jeho zdravotní stav. V diplomové práci také popisujeme, jaké druhy zdravotní péče na našem území poskytujeme a jak pojišťovny za lékařskou a zdravotní péči vyplácejí zdravotnická zařízení. V další části jsme se zabývaly porovnáním pojišťoven na území České republiky. Porovnávaly jsme výši příspěvků a bonusů, které jsou hlavním důvodem pro získání co nejvíce klientů pojištění. Cílem mé diplomové práce bylo porovnání zdravotního pojištění mezi ostatními státy Evropské unie. V poskytování zdravotní péče si stojíme velice dobře. Hůře jsme na tom v oblasti financování, jelikož Česká republika a Slovenská republika nemají zavedeno soukromé zdravotní pojištění, ale pouze připojištění. Důsledkem jsou pak vyšší procentní odvody na zdravotní pojištění. Výhodu, že nemáme soukromé zdravotní pojištění, shledáváme v tom, že máme rovnocennou zdravotní péči pro všechny. Další výhodu vidíme v tom, že v České republice je většina stomatologické péče hrazená ze zdravotního pojištění, jelikož v mnoha zemích ke stomatologii přistupují jako ke kosmetickým zákrokům. V oblasti příspěvků z hrubého domácího produktu na zdravotní pojištění jsme hodně pod průměrem. To je ovlivněno jak rozdílnou výší HDP v jednotlivých zemích, tak specifikou jejich ekonomik.

Abstract:

In this dissertaion, we will clarify health insurance and healthcare in the Czech Republic and selected countries of the European Union. In the Czech Republic, health insurance is a very important part of the healthcare system because it is financed from the insurance contributions. The aim of the doctors is to improve and stabilize the health of their patients. We will also describe what types of healthcare are common in the Czech Republic and how insurance companies are financing the health establishments ie. hospitals. In the next part we compare the insurance companies in the Czech Republic and the amount of their contributions and bonuses, which is the main reason for obtaining new clients. The purpose of our dissertation is to compare the health insurance between the Czech Republic and other European Union countries. We are very advanced in the quality of health care provided. We are not so proficient in the financing of the system, as the contributions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are quite high compared to the earnings. It is not possible to obtain private medical insurance in our country. This results into higher percentual compulsory contributions. The advantage of the absence of private medical insurance is a public healthcare system that is equal for every citizen regardless of their social standing. Another benefit of this system is, that the most dental expenses are covered. In many countries some of the dental procedures are considered as cosmetic. We are below average in contributing to the health care system in comparison to the Czech Republic’s GDP. Other countries, usually, contribute larger portion of their GDP, although this is tied to diverse levels of GDP and different specifics of their economies.
