Diagnostic options in dentistry.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce s názvem "Možnosti diagnostiky ve stomatologii" je zaměřena na doplňující vyšetřovací metody, speciálně na diagnostické zobrazovací metody, které hrají významnou roli ve vyšetřovacím algoritmu. Toto specifické zacílení je zvoleno z důvodu zpracování těchto metod z pohledu oboru radiologický asistent. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části je obecný popis anatomie a patologie orofaciální oblasti, dále obsahuje souhrn diagnostických metod ve stomatologii a na závěr jsou zde popsány zásady radiační ochrany ve stomatologické radiologii. V praktické části jsme si zvolily tři cíle a hypotézy. Prvním cílem je zmapovat výhody a nevýhody při využití zobrazovacích metod ve stomatologii a následně zhodnotit, zda je pro diagnostiku zubního kazu je nejvýhodnější zobrazení pomocí intraorálního snímkování. Druhým cílem je zpracovat přehled obdržených radiačních dávek při jednotlivých vyšetřeních a zhodnocení, zda je nejlepší využít ortopantomografie v závislosti na obdržené dávce a výpovědní hodnotě snímku. A třetím cílem je zhotovit informační materiál pro pacienty, zaměřený na přípravu a průběh radiodiagnostických vyšetření ve stomatologii, a následně budeme porovnávat počty provedených jednotlivých radiodiagnostických vyšetření ve stomatologii za rok 2014.

Abstract:

This bachalor's thesis named "The Options for Diagnosis in Stomatology" is focused on complementary methods of examination, especially on imaging which plays an important role in the whole system of examinations. This specific topic was chosen, so we can present it from a Radiology Assistant perspective. The thesis is separated into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part includes anatomical and pathological description of the orofacial area as well as a summary of diagnostic methods in Stomatology and a description of the radiology protection rules in Stomatology. For the practical part we chose three goals and three hypotheses. The fisrt goal is to describe the benefits and the drawbacks to the usage of imaging methods in Stomatology and also to evaluate if the intraoral imaging is the best method for cavity diagnosis. The second goal of this thesis is to create a summary of received radiation doses during different examinations and evaluate if the orthopantomographic exam is the best, keeping the radiation dose and the image quality in mind. And the third goal for this thesis is to create informative material for patients focused on the preparation for and the course of a radiology examination in Stomatology. We will also compare the number of dental radiology examinations performed in 2014.
