Pronunciation deviation from standard Czech by non-native speakers

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se zabývá mezijazykem mluvčích češtiny s prvním jazykem vietnamštinou. V první fázi se soustřeďuje na segmentální plán, konkrétně na realizaci konsonantů, okrajově na realizaci vokálů. V druhé fázi sleduje, jak jsou tyto realizace vnímány rodilými mluvčími češtiny. Jako výzkumná metoda byla zvolena forma experimentu. Ten se skládal ze tří částí: 1) sběru dat (nahrávek) rodilých mluvčích vietnamštiny, jejich výběru a zpracování, 2) akustické a auditivní analýzy nahrávek na základě spektrogramů vygenerovaných programem Praat, 3) percepčního testu, kdy byly nahrávky hodnoceny rodilými mluvčími češtiny. Sledovány byly typické odchylky od standardní české výslovnosti, které jsou pak ukotveny v typologii interferencí z L1.

Abstract:

The present thesis deals with the interlanguage of speakers of Czech with Vietnamese as their first language. In the first phase, it focuses on the segmental plan, specifically on the realization of consonants, and partially on the realization of vocals. In the second phase, it looks at how these realizations are perceived by native speakers of Czech. The research method chosen is an experiment. It consisted of three parts: 1. data collection (recordings) of native speakers of Vietnamese, their selection and processing, 2. acoustic and auditive analysis of the recordings based on spectrograms generated by the Praat program, 3. a perceptual test where the recordings were evaluated by native speakers of Czech. Typical divergences from standard Czech pronunciation were monitored and then anchored in the L1 interference typology.
