The Influence and Long-term Effect of Special Rehabilitation Program on Respiratory Function and Fatigue in Patients after COVID-19

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zkoumá dlouhodobý účinek speciálního ambulantního skupinového rehabilitačního programu u pacientů s přetrvávající symptomatologií po prodělaném onemocnění Covid-19. Výzkum probíhá na ambulantním pracovišti Kliniky tělovýchovného lékařství a rehabilitace Fakultní nemocnice u sv. Anny v Brně. Zaměřuje se na zjišťování míry únavy (podle hodnot Globálního indexu únavy dotazníku MAFS) a subjektivního vnímání dechových obtíží (podle výsledků COPD Assessment testu) 8-18 měsíců po absolvování rehabilitačního programu a srovnávání s předešlými výsledky před rehabilitací a po rehabilitaci. Konečné výsledky této práce potvrzují pozitivní dlouhodobý efekt speciálního rehabilitačního programu na snížení míry únavy a zejména na redukci subjektivních dechových obtíží. Studie neprokazuje statisticky významný vliv prodělané reinfekce Covid-19 na popisovanou míru únavy ani dušnosti. Dále není dokázán statistický vliv běžného denního počtu kroků na míru únavy ani na míru dechových obtíží.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the long-term impact of the special outpatient group rehabilitation program on patients suffering from persistent symptoms after Covid-19 disease. The study takes place at the outpatient clinic of the Department of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation at St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno. It focuses on the examination of the level of fatigue (by the Global Fatigue Index from the MAFS questionnaire) and the level of subjective dyspnoea (by the results of the COPD Assessment Test) in 8-18 months after completing the rehabilitation program and comparing with the previous results at the start of the program and at the end of the program. The final results of the diploma research confirm a positive long-term effect of the special rehabilitation program on the reduction of fatigue and especially the reduction of the subjective breathlessness. The study proves no statistically significant impact of Covid-19 reinfection on described rates of fatigue and breathlessness. There is no statistically significant influence of the regular daily step count on actual rates of fatigue or dyspnoea.
