Different methods and forms of teaching in Geography lessons

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je analýza odlišných metod výuky učitelů, komparace výsledků žáků při osvojování učiva vybraných témat a porovnání míry jejich motivace při různých formách výuky v zeměpisu. Teoretická část se na základě odborné literatury zabývá charakteristikou vyučovacích metod, organizačních forem výuky a možností hodnocení žáků. Stručný nástin předmětu zeměpis v historii a dnes a jeho zařazení v kurikulárních dokumentech je úvodem pro praktickou část. Ta se zabývá akčním výzkumem, který se zaměřuje na porovnání výuky dvou učitelů zeměpisu na základní škole, především na využití odlišných metod a forem výuky tématu sopečná činnost a tématu povrch, vodstvo a podnebí Ameriky. Využitými metodami jsou pozorování ve výuce, rozhovory se žáky a písemné ověření jejich osvojených poznatků. Závěrem práce jsou výsledky výzkumu a diskuze nad tématy.

Abstract:

The aim of the diploma thesis is to analyse different teaching methods and approaches used by geography teachers, comparison of pupils´ results in mastering curriculum of selected topics and evaluation of the degree of their motivation in various forms of teaching in Geography. The theoretical part based on professional literature deals with the characteristics of teaching methods, organizational forms of teaching and possibilities of pupils´ assessment. The practical part of the thesis is introduced by a brief outline of Geography as the subject throughout its history and today, and its placement in curriculum documents. The practical part deals with the action research which focuses on comparison of two Geography teachers at primary schools, particularly on using different methods, approaches and forms of the topic Volcanic Activity, and the topic America - Surface, Water and Climate. The methods used in the action research are observation, interviews with pupils and written verification of pupils´ mastered knowledge. Conclusions of the thesis are the results of the action research and discussion about the topics.
