New Aesthetics according to James Bridle

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Nová estetika podle Jamese Bridela“ představuje vznik a současný stav teorie „nové estetiky“. Jejími otázkami se zaobírá především bristký teoretik, spisovatel, nakladatel a technolog James Bridle. Základní myšlenky „nové estetiky“ představíme na vybraných příkladech z Bridleovy tvorby. „Nová estetika“ se v tomto pojetí stává symbolem určitého druhu zvláštní citlivosti a vnímání digitální kultury, zkoumá rostoucí vliv digitálních technologií a internetu ve fyzickém světě. Nový přístup k estetice je zkoumán zejména prostřednictvím dvou forem – databáze a virtuální prostor. Práce dále zasazuje koncept „nové estetiky“ do současné globalizace světa, kde čerpá z myšlenek britského teoretika Seana Cubitta, který zkoumá digitální médium z hlediska naší subjektivity a korporačního vlivu. Práce také zachycuje postmodernistické myšlenky, které velmi ovlivnili dění ve virtuálním světě. Dále zkoumá zaujatost komoditami a konzumní způsob života. Závěr práce objasňuje problémy spjaté s pokusy o estetično v dnešní době, kde se vytratilo duchovno a vize ve společenství lidí.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis „New Aesthetics according to James Bridle“ represents emergence and current status of the theory of the „new aesthetics“. British theorist, writer, publisher and technologist James Bridle is one of the first who coined this new term. The main ideas regarding „new aesthetics“ are presented on examples of his work. New aesthetics represents specific sensibility and perception of network culture and shows increasing tendencies of digital technologies and internet in the physical world. There are two principal forms: database and navigable space which are, used for investigation of this new attitude. Further we are showing „new aesthetics“ from perspective of globalization based on the research of british theorist Sean Cubitt who discusses the digital medium towards our subjectivity and corporate culture. The thesis captures posmodernism which influenced a lot network culture. As well as it investigates increasing commodification and consumer culture. The thesis brings into conclusion problems of contemporary aesthetics where the main problem is dissapereance of spirituality and visions of human community.
