Changes in phytobenthos communities of the Dřevnice River - the spatial and temporal ecological status assessment

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá biologickým hodnocením kvality vody řeky Dřevnice (východní až jihovýchodní Morava) prostřednictvím sinic a řas, které jsou svým výskytem vázány na dnový substrát (bahno, písek, kameny apod.). Fytobentos, jak je tento soubor bentických autotrofních organismů nazýván, má významné postavení mezi bioindikátory kvality vody především pro svou schopnost odrážet změny prostředí v krátkém čase. Podle dostupných informací se jedná o první algologickou studii provedenou na tomto toku, a přináší tak nové poznatky o diverzitě bentických sinic a řas i ekologickém stavu řeky. Vzorky byly odebírány na pěti lokalitách pravidelně jednou za měsíc po dobu jednoho roku. Sledovaly se změny v diverzitě společenstev fytobentosu se současným měřením fyzikálně – chemických parametrů. Cílem bylo zjistit, zda je diverzita sinic a řas ovlivňována měřenými parametry prostředí a stanovit aktuální ekologický stav toku za pomocí metod, které jsou využívány i ve vodohospodářské praxi.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with a biological evaluation of water quality of the Dřevnice River (east to southeast Moravia) by cyanobacterial and algal communities which are associated to the bottom substrate (e.g. mud, sand, stones). Phytobenthos, as this file of benthic autotrophic organisms, has a significant position among bioindicators of water quality for the ability to reflect environmental changes in a short time. According to the available information this is the first algological study carried out on the River and brings new insights about the diversity of benthic cyanobacteria and algae and the ecological status of the river as well. Samples were collected regularly once a month at five locations within one year. The changes in diversity of phytobenthos communities were monitored and physicochemical parameters were measured. The aim was to find out if the diversity of cyanobacteria and algae is influenced by the environmental parameters and to determinate the current ecological status of the river by methods used in water management practices.
