Russia from the point of view of emigrant writers

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis ?Russia from the point of view of emigrant writers? attempts to describe and clarify reasons of 20th century Russian emigration, including not only the writers. Facts, based on primary and secondary literature, show various causes due to which Russians were forced to leave their country. However, only the outline of historical events is insufficient. Perspective of emigrant writers will contribute to complex look at the issue of emigration. Writers? autobiographical works and memoirs are rich source for studying emigration. Above all, we are interested in their own experience with life in a foreign country, encountering different culture and integration in the society. Attention is also paid to how emigrants perceive Russia after their have left, how the connection between them and their home country affected their lives and works. The theoretical part describes historical background that initiated three emigration waves. Each of which presents its unique features as well as famous writers. The practical part studies third wave authors in more detailed way. The chosen writers are following: Aleksander Solzhenitsyn, Sergei Dovlatov and Eduard Limonov. Biographies and other works of these writers will be used as a study material to make a clear idea of what it meant to become an emigrant.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce ?Rusko očima ruských spisovatelů emigrantů? se na základě studia primární a sekundární literatury snaží popsat ruskou emigraci 20. století a objasnit důvody, kvůli kterým byli v minulosti (nejenom) spisovatelé nuceni opouštět svoji zemi. K pochopení emigrace jako takové nestačí pouze obecné shrnutí historických faktů, ale je zapotřebí i pohledu samotných spisovatelů. Jejich autobiografická díla a memoáry jsou bohatým zdrojem ke studiu této problematiky. Zajímají nás především jejich zkušenosti s životem v zahraničí, setkání s cizí kulturou, začlenění se do společnosti, ale také to, jak vnímají Rusko po svém odchodu, na co nejčastěji vzpomínají a jak se jejich vztah k Rusku promítl do jejich nových životů a tvorby. Teoretická část popisuje historické pozadí, které dalo vzniknout třem vlnám emigrace. U každé z nich jsou uvedena její specifika společně s jejími předními literárními tvůrci. Praktická část se blíže zaměřuje na autory třetí vlny, a to na Alexandra Solženicyna, Sergeje Dovlatova a Eduarda Limonova. Jejich biografie a tvorba poslouží k vytvoření konkrétní představy, co pro spisovatele znamenalo stát se emigrantem.
