Support of Learner Autonomy in the DaF Lessons

Abstract:

The presented diploma thesis deals with the possibilities of how to support the autonomous learning in the context of school foreign language education. The aim of the thesis is an application of certain methods, forms, contents and means of teaching as to support the autonomous learning in a particular school class, and furthermore the evaluation of their impact using the method of pedagogical action research. The thesis in its theoretical part deals with the pedagogical and psychological output of the autonomous learning concept and its application in foreign language teaching; incorporating autonomy in valid curricular documents; some of its teaching methods and models, supporting the learners autonomy. Furthermore, the teaching method that is focused on the support of learner autonomy and the changes that it brings are other issues described in the thesis. It also briefly looks into teaching strategies and teaching materials supporting autonomy of the learner and his self-evaluation. Pedagogical action research done in the teaching of German as the second foreign language is described in the empirical part of thesis. The aim of the research, within three interventions, was to suggest, implement and assess the innovations in the actual teaching. That would support the pupils´ independence during the lessons and contribute to the development of their autonomy. Furthermore, these innovations would lead to pupils assuming responsibility for their studies.

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá možnostmi podpory autonomního učení v kontextu školního cizojazyčného vzdělávání. Cílem práce byla didaktická aplikace vybraných metod, forem a prostředků vyučování pro podporu autonomního učení ve výuce němčiny jako cizího jazyka v konrétní školní třídě a vyhodnocení jejího působení, a to natodou akčního pedagogického výzkumu. V teoretické části se práce zabývá pedagogickými a psychologickými východisky konceptu autonomního učení, zakotvením autonomie v platných kurikulárních dokumentech, některými vyučovacími metodami a modely, podporující autonomii žáka. Popisuje změny, které s sebou vyučování, kladoucí si za cíl podporu žákovy autonomie přináší. V empirické části je popsán průběh akčního pedagogického výzkumu, jehož cílem bylo v rámci tří intervencí navrhnout, realizovat a zhodnotit inovace ve vlastním vyučování, jejichž cílem bylo podpořit samostatnost žáka při vyučování a přispět k rozvoji jeho autonomie a k přebírání zodpovědnosti za vlastní učení.
