The use of boomwhackers in music education at 2nd and 3rd level of education

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje hudebním nástrojům Boomwhackers, jejich charakteristice a implementaci do současného vzdělávacího systému v České republice v rámci hudební výchovy. Práce má šest částí. První část seznamuje čtenáře s hudebním nástrojem Boomwhackers a výhodami a nevýhodami jeho využití ve výuce. V druhé části je popsáno současné pojetí hudební výchovy v České republice a ve třetí konkrétní školy, na nichž lze aktivity z této práce realizovat. Text zmiňuje, jakým způsobem do těchto podmínek Boomwhackers zapadají. Čtvrtá a pátá část již popisují fenomény, jimž se učitel při realizaci aktivit s Boomwhackers nevyhne, tedy skupinovou práci a individualizaci, a přináší možné výukové scénáře. Šestá část je nejdelší a nejzásadnější, přináší didaktické popisy aktivit s Boomwhackers, je doplněna o notové ukázky a obrázky, převážně fotografie Boomwhackers. Tato část poskytuje jasné návody i inspirace, jak využít Boomwhackers v hudební výchově.

Abstract:

The thesis is devoted to the musical instruments Boomwhackers, their characteristics and implementation into the current educational system in the Czech Republic within the framework of music education. The thesis has six parts. The first part introduces the reader to the Boomwhackers musical instrument and the advantages and disadvantages of its use in education. The second part describes the current concept of music education in the Czech Republic and the third part describes specific schools where the activities from this thesis can be implemented. The text mentions how Boomwhackers fits into these conditions. The fourth and fifth parts describe the phenomena that a teacher cannot avoid when implementing activities with Boomwhackers, i.e. group work and individualization, and present possible teaching scenarios. The sixth part is the longest and most substantial, providing didactic descriptions of activities with Boomwhackers, supplemented by notational examples and pictures, mostly photographs of Boomwhackers. This section provides clear guidance and inspiration on how to use Boomwhackers in music education.
