Abstract:

This thesis investigates the transformative role of Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) in fostering innovation and economic growth, with a specific focus on Sturgeon Capital's initiatives in underexplored frontier markets. Through a meticulous integration of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, this study assesses how strategic CVC investments catalyze technological advancements and business expansion. The "Practical Part" of the thesis elucidates the unique investment strategies of Sturgeon Capital, highlighting its focus on regions with potent developmental prospects but traditionally low investment influxes. The "Analytical Part" presents a detailed analysis of investment outcomes, drawing upon case studies and industry benchmarks to evaluate the efficacy of CVC under Sturgeon Capital's model. The findings reveal that alignment with corporate strategic goals, rigorous management of the investment lifecycle, and a keen selection of startups are pivotal to the success of CVC endeavors. These elements contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of target regions, as evidenced by Sturgeon Capital's impact on job creation, financial inclusion, and support for technological startups. This thesis underscores the dual benefits of CVC investments: substantial financial returns and notable socio-economic contributions, positioning CVC as a critical instrument for corporate strategy and regional development.
