Zuby, jakožto jeden z klíčových orgánů pro získávání a zpracování potravy u řady živočichů, se dostávají čím dál více do popředí zájmu nejen lékařů, ale i vědců. Kromě čistě klinických studií, zaměřujících se na odontologii a aplikaci nových léčebných metod, jsou zuby často skloňovány též v kontextu odontogeneze a aspektů s ní souvisejících.
