Diplomová práce se zabývá vznikem a vývojem ručního písma a oborem, který ruční písmo zkoumá. Tím navazuje nejen na využití písmoznalectví v kriminalistice, ale i využití poznatků z oboru písmoznalectví a kriminalistického zkoumání při kriminalisticko praktické činnosti.
