The Current Financial Crisis from the Perspective of the Austrian School

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je analýza finanční krize finanční krize z roku 2008 z pohledu rakouské školy s důrazem na teorii rakouského hospodářského cyklu. První část je věnována historickému vývoji rakouské školy. Dále se zabývá metodologií rakouské školy, především metodologickým subjektivismem, metodologickým individualismem a nakonec popisuje specifickou metodu rakouské školy, která se nazývá praxeologie. Hlavní teoretická část spočívá v nastínění teorie rakouského hospodářského cyklu. Základ této teorie leží především v arbitrárním stanovení úrokové míry centrální bankou. Dále se práce zabývá hospodářským vývojem v USA od roku 1990 až do roku 2014. Zaměřuje se především na jednání americké centrální banky a to především na její snahy o záchranu ekonomiky a dále analyzuje, proč se americký hypoteční trh ocitl v centru finanční krize. Na konci práce jsou učiněny závěry, které vyplývají z jednání americké centrální banky.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is the analysis of the financial crisis from the perspective of the Austrian School with an emphasis on the Austrian business cycle theory. The first part is devoted of the historical development of the Austrian School. Next part is occupied with the methodology of the Austrian School, especially methodological subjectivism, methodological individualism and finally is described the specific methodology of the Austrian School, which is called praxeology. Main theoretical part clarifies the Austrian business cycle theory. The fundament of this theory lies mostly in the arbitrary determination of the interest rate. This thesis also looks at the economic development in the U.S. from 1990 to 2014. It focuses mostly on the dealing of the U.S. central bank, especially its effort to rescue the economy. It also analyzes why the U.S. mortgage market was in the center of the financial crisis. At the end, there are findings that result from the actions of the U.S. central bank.
