Czech Reading of German Expressionist Poetry - Reception of German Expressionist texts in communist Czechoslovakia (1945-1989)

Abstract:

In this diploma thesis, I deal with the topic of reception of German expressionist lyric texts in communist Czechoslovakia in the years 1945-1989 in the context of literary communication in a totalitarian state, where the paratexts, primarily preface and epilogue have a significant impact on the perception of the literary work. The work consists of two parts. The first is the theoretical part, consisting of the chapters Paratexts (preface, epilogue, and review), historical background in communist Czechoslovakia, Czech literary criticism, and censorship. The second part is the analytical part, where the prefaces or epilogues of selected poetry collections translated into Czech are analysed. The work also provides a bibliographical overview of all translations of expressionist lyrical works published in Czechoslovakia in the years 1945-1989.

Abstract:

V této diplomové práci se zabývám tématem recepce německých expresionistických lyrických textů v komunistickém Československu v letech 1945-1989 v kontextu literární komunikace v totalitním státě, kde významný vliv na vnímání díla mají paratexty, především předmluvy a doslovy. Práce se skládá ze dvou částí. První je teoretická část, sestávající z kapitol Paratexty (předmluva, doslov a recenze), Historické pozadí v komunistickém Československu, Česká literární kritika a Cenzura. Druhou částí je část analytická, kde jsou analyzovány předmluvy či doslovy vybraných do češtiny přeložených básnických sbírek. Práce také poskytuje bibliografický přehled všech překladů expresionistických lyrických děl vydaných v Československu v letech 1945-1989.
