Connectivity of the catchment and the upper part of Moravice River by the sediment delivery and their transport

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to obtain information about the connectivity of the upper Moravice river basin in terms of transport of sediments, their source areas and the presence of anthropogenic modifications preventing their passage. The aim of the thesis is also the identification of current and possible sources of sediment. The theoretical part of the thesis defines technical terms in the field of connectivity of the river basin, alluvial regime and methods of its measurement. The thesis contains the basic physical and geographical characteristics of the river basin, including the analysis of historical changes in land use. The methodological concept can be divided into two parts, which are the GIS analysis of watercourses in terms of confinement of their valleys and material sources, and the field survey of the river basin including mapping the riverbed and the surrounding area with a focus on transverse objects in the riverbed, engineering modifications of the riverbed, possible sources of alluvium and other. During the field survey, sediment samples were taken using the Wolman pebble count method, and the transverse profiles and the longitudinal profile of the riverbed were also measured. In the main part of the thesis, the data obtained from the field research were analysed and processed in the form of maps, graphs of grain curves and photographs. Based on the GIS analysis and field research, the condition of the river basin monitored by us was evaluated in terms of connectivity of sediment transport. As part of the combination of the results from the GIS analysis and field research, a map of real and potential sources of material and a map of transverse objects in the riverbed, which cause disconnection in the transport of sediments, were created. The connectivity of the river basin in terms of sediment transport is unevenly disrupted. On the basis of data from the field research, which also included the localization of the position of geomorphological shapes of the riverbed and anthropogenic modifications, GIS layers were created containing basic data on the given objects and phenomena. Based on our results, it is clear that the study of the overall connectivity of the river basin related to the alluvial regime can serve as a very good basis for solving the problem of alluvial regime of the studied watercourses.

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je získat informace o konektivitě povodí horního toku Moravice z hlediska transportu splavenin, jejich zdrojových oblastí a přítomnosti antropogenních úprav bránících jejich průchodu. Cílem práce je také identifikace současných a potenciálních zdrojů splavenin. V rešeršní části práce jsou definovány odborné termíny z oblasti konektivity povodí, splaveninového režimu a metod jeho měření. Práce obsahuje základní fyzicko-geografickou charakteristiku povodí včetně analýzy historických změn ve využití území. Metodický koncept můžeme rozdělit na dvě části, kterými jsou GIS analýza vodních toků z hlediska sevřenosti jejich údolí a zdrojnic materiálu, a terénní průzkum povodí zahrnující mapovaní koryta toku a blízkého okolí se zaměřením se na příčné objekty v korytě, inženýrské úpravy koryta, možné zdrojnice splavenin a jiné. Po dobu terénního průzkumu byly odebrány vzorky splavenin za použití Wolmanovy metody pebble count a taktéž byly zaměřené i příčné profily a podélný profil koryta toku. V hlavní části práce byly analyzovány a zpracovány data získaná z terénního průzkumu ve formě map, grafů, zrnitostních křivek a fotografií. Na základě GIS analýzy a terénního průzkumu byl vyhodnocený stav námi sledovaného povodí z hlediska konektivity transportu splavenin. V rámci přepojení výsledků z GIS analýzy a terénního průzkumu vznikla mapa reálných a potenciálních zdrojnic materiálu a mapa příčných objektů v korytě toku, které způsobují diskonektivitu v transportu splavenin. Konektivita povodí z hlediska transportu splavenin je nerovnoměrně narušena. Na bázi dat z terénního průzkumu, kterého součástí byla i lokalizace polohy geomorfologických tvarů koryta a antropogenních úprav, byly vytvořeny GIS vrstvy obsahující základní údaje o daných objektech a jevech. Na základě našich výsledků je teda zřejmé, že studie celkové konektivity povodí vztahující se na splaveninový režim může sloužit jako velmi dobrý základ při řešení problematiky splaveninového režimu zkoumaných vodních toků.
