Contribution and cooperation of the Army of the Czech Republic during the Covid-19 pandemic in the work of general nurses

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce bylo zmapovat rozsah spolupráce příslušníků AČR a všeobecných sester během pandemie Covid-19. Dalším cílem bylo zjistit, jestli všeobecné sestry byly se zmíněnou spoluprací spokojeny, a také zmapovat, jaké jsou zkušenosti všeobecných sester s nasazením vojáků na nemocniční lůžková oddělení. Teoretická část se zabývá podrobným popsáním klíčových termínů, které nadále souvisejí i s částí výzkumnou. Především je zde věnována pozornost onemocnění Covid-19, jeho klinickému obrazu a možnostem prevence, diagnostiky a léčby. Vysvětleny jsou i klíčové pojmy jako všeobecná sestra nebo pandemie. Zaměřujeme se také na specifika samotné práce všeobecných sester v nemocnicích v době pandemie. Další z hlavních kapitol se zaměřuje na Armádu České republiky a na způsoby, kterými bojovala proti zmíněnému infekčnímu onemocnění. Je zde popsána nejen pomoc, kterou poskytla svými členy v sociálních a nemocničních zařízeních, ale i pomoc složkám integrovaného záchranného systému a další cesty jejího zapojení. V empirické části bylo provedeno výzkumné šetření kvalitativní formou za použití metody hloubkového rozhovoru. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo celkem patnáct všeobecných sester, které pracují ve dvou odlišných nemocnicích na odděleních lůžkového typu. Všechny během pandemie spolupracovaly s členy AČR, což představuje základní stavební kámen celého tohoto výzkumu. Před realizací samotného výzkumu byl proveden i předvýzkum, který sloužil především k ověření srozumitelnosti jednotlivých otázek v rozhovoru. Po souhlasu informantek byly rozhovory nahrávány a následně autorkou práce přepsány v programu Microsoft Word. Získané informace byly pečlivě přečteny a dle potřeb kategorizovány a redukovány do vytvořených kategorií a subkategorií, které jsou schematicky znázorněny v kapitole výsledky. Získané výsledky ukazují, že členové AČR spolupracovali jak s všeobecnými sestrami, tak s ostatními členy ošetřovatelského týmu. Nejčastěji se jednalo o pomocné práce jako je například pomoc při ranní hygieně, antidekubitní péče, asistence při stravování apod. Všeobecné sestry vysvětlily, čím jim byli vojáci nejvíce ku prospěchu, ale popsaly i úkoly, které pro vojáky představovaly problematické činnosti. Všeobecné sestry také detailně vyobrazily zkušenosti, které touto spoluprací získaly, a uvedly jak pozitivní, tak negativní názory a připomínky této spolupráce. V práci nechybí ani doporučené změny pro případ, že by následovala další vlna pandemie Covid-19. V kapitole diskuse jsou poté získané výsledky empirické části srovnány s odbornou literaturou a světovými články databází.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis was to map the scope of cooperation between members of the AČR and general nurses during the Covid-19 pandemic. Another goal was to find out if the general nurses were satisfied with the mentioned cooperation, and also to map the experiences of the general nurses with the deployment of soldiers in hospital inpatient wards. The theoretical part deals with a detailed description of key terms that are still related to the research part. Above all, attention is paid here to the disease Covid-19, its clinical picture and the possibilities of prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Key terms such as general nurse or pandemic are also explained. We also focus on the specifics of the work of general nurses in hospitals during the pandemic. Another of the main chapters focuses on the Army of the Czech Republic and the ways in which it fought against the mentioned infectious disease. It describes not only the help provided by its members in social and hospital facilities, but also help to the components of the integrated rescue system and other ways of its involvement. In the empirical part, a research investigation was carried out in a qualitative form using the in-depth interview method. The research group consisted of a total of fifteen general nurses who work in two different hospitals on inpatient wards. All of them collaborated with members of the ACR during the pandemic, which represents the basic building block of this entire research. Before the actual research was carried out, a pre-research was also carried out, which mainly served to verify the comprehensibility of the individual questions in the interview. After the consent of the informants, the interviews were recorded and subsequently transcribed in Microsoft Word by the author of the thesis. The obtained information was carefully read and, as needed, categorized and reduced into created categories and subcategories, which are schematically shown in the results chapter. The obtained results show that the members of the ACR cooperated both with general nurses and with other members of the nursing team. Most often, it was auxiliary work, such as helping with morning hygiene, anti-decubitus care, assistance with meals, etc. The general nurses explained what the soldiers were most beneficial to them, but also described the tasks that were problematic activities for the soldiers. General nurses also described in detail the experiences they gained from this collaboration, and stated both positive and negative opinions and comments about this collaboration. The work also includes recommended changes in case another wave of the Covid-19 pandemic follows. In the discussion chapter, the obtained results of the empirical part are then compared with professional literature and global database articles.
