The analysis of the relationship between stock indices and currency pairs from the investor's perspective

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je analýza vztahu mezi akciovými indexy a měnové páry. Příznivci mezinárodní diverzifikace tvrdí, že investováním do zahraničí můžeme významně snížit riziko portfolia. Avšak racionální investor zohledňuje několik parametrů portfolia, kterými jsou výnos, riziko a likvidita. V souvislosti s ekonomickou situací České republiky, která výrazně posiluje od roku 2000, u českého investora vzniká otázka: „Ovlivni-li negativně apreciační trend české koruny, vyvolaný úspěšností české ekonomiky, výnosy při investování do zahraničí?“ Odpověď na tyto otázky poskytne tato bakalářská práce. Teoretická část má za cíl vysvětlit podstatu fundamentální analýzy, problematiku zjištění zkoumaného vztahu, uvést základní parametry, podle kterých investor uvažuje o investici, podívat se na silné a slabé stránky zvoleného způsobu investování a to investování do indexů. Praktická část vyjádřila hypotézy teoretické části v konkrétních číslech. Výnosy zahraničních indexů byly negativně ovlivněny apreciačním trendem české koruny. Uvedený v praktické části graf, který obsahuje všechna portfolia, znázornil výsledky empirické části a ukázal nejvýhodnější portfolia.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyze the relationship between stock indices and currency pairs. Supporters of international diversification say that by investing abroad we can significantly reduce portfolio risk. However, a rational investor takes into consideration several portfolio parameters, such as yield, risk and liquidity. In connection with the economic situation of the Czech Republic, which has enhanced significantly since 2000, might arise a question among Czech investors: "Will appreciation trend of Czech koruna caused by the success of the Czech economy, influence income from foreign stock market?“ The answer will can be found in this bachelor thesis. The theoretical part aims at explaining the essence of the fundamental analysis, the problematic of finding the studied relationship, provide the basic parameters according to which the investor is considering about investing, have look at the strengths and weaknesses of the chosen method of investing particularly investing in indexes. The practical part expressed hypotheses of the theoretical part in specific numbers. Revenues from foreign indices were negatively affected by the appreciation trend of the Czech crown. The graph showed in practical part, which contains all the portfolios outlined the result of the empirical part and revealed the most advantageous portfolios.
