Telephone Banking in the Czech Market Competition

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je analýza konkurenčního postavení čtyř bankovních subjektů na českém trhu. Záměrně jsem zde zvolil dvě velké bankovní instituce (Komerční banku, a.s. a Československou obchodní banku, a.s.), jelikož toto jsou instituce, které nejdéle působní v českém bankovním sektoru (do této skupiny patří i Česká spořitelna, a.s.), mají v něm největší stopu a samozřejmě největší podíl klientů. Oproti těmto institucím jsem zvolil společnost GE Money bank, a.s. a UniCredit Bank Czech Republic, a.s. – v porovnání s prvně zmíněnými institucemi mají tyto společnosti krátkou historii na českém bankovním trhu a menší podíl na bankovním trhu. Je tedy velice zajímavé, jak si leadři trhu (tzn. Komerční banka, a.s. a Československá obchodní banka, a. s.) poradí s menšími a dravými bankami, a na druhou stranu, jak si tyto menší instituce poradí se silnými hráči na trhu a jakým způsobem jim ukrojí část portfolia (jakým způsobem si získají klienty). Nedílnou součástí mé bakalářské práce je představení vzniku této služby v českém bankovním sektoru, včetně charakteristiky využití služby telefonního bankovnictví.

Abstract:

The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to analyse the competitive position of four banks in the Czech market. I have intentionally chosen two large banking institutions (Komerční banka, a.s. and Československá obchodní banka, a.s.), as these institutions have been operating in the Czech banking sector the longest (another in this group is Česká spořitelna, a.s.), have the greatest coverage of the market, and obviously the greatest proportion of clients. In contrast to these institutions I chose GE Money bank, a.s. and UniCredit Bank Czech Republic, a.s. – compared with the first banks, these companies have a shorter history in the Czech banking sector and a smaller share of the banking market. It is very interesting how the market leaders (i.e. Komerční banka, a.s. and Československá obchodní banka, a .s.) cope with smaller, more go-ahead banks and, on the other hand, how these smaller institutions cope with the strong players in the market and how they manage to acquire part of their portfolio (how they obtain clients). One integral part of my Bachelor thesis is a description of how this service originated in the Czech banking sector, including the characteristics of telephone banking use.
