Motion on the Cheb´s state border and the operation of the 5th Border Guard Brigade in the second half of the 1950´s.

Abstract:

Tématem předkládané práce jsou pohyby zejména civilních ale i vojenských osob v okolí československo-německé státní hranice na území v působnosti 5. brigády Pohraniční stráže Cheb, a zejména skrze ni, v 2. polovině 50. let 20. století. Stěžejními body jsou tedy případy tzv. narušení státní hranice, proryvů a zběhnutí. Druhá část práce se zabývá činností příslušníků 5. brigády ve zmíněných letech a všemi záležitostmi spojenými s jejich vojenskou službou. Součástí práce je také pohled dobového tisku na tuto problematiku.

Abstract:

The thesis is dealing with movements of mostly civilian but also with military persons in the area of Czechoslovak-German state border in the area under surveillance of the 5th Border Guard Brigade-Cheb in the second half of the 1950's. The main point are the cases of so-called crossing of the state border, breakthroughs and defections. The thesis also deals with the activities of members of the 5th Brigade in these years and all matters that were associated with their military service. The thesis also contains the view of the period press issued in these years.
