Abstract:

Táto dizertačná práca skúma komplexné vzťahy medzi spoločenským, ekonomickým a environmentálnym rozmerom priemyselnej výroby so zameraním na automobilový priemysel. Výskum sa konkrétne zaoberá konceptom spravodlivého prechodu, pričom skúma úlohy rôznych zainteresovaných strán. Práca kladie osobitný dôraz najmä na vplyv robotníkov pri prechode priemyslu na alternatívnu výrobu vozidiel. Teoretická kapitola zdôrazňuje hlboký vplyv výroby a práce na environmentálne otázky a krízy, pričom sa zasadzuje za kritické skúmanie dynamiky zamestnania a perspektívy pracujúcich. Ďalšia kapitola skúma historický a sociálny kontext automobilového priemyslu, pričom zdôrazňuje paradoxy pri presadzovaní ekologickejšej výroby a vyzdvihuje kľúčovú úlohu pracujúcich a ich bojov pri formovaní udržateľného vývoja priemyslu a spoločnosti. Na základe komplexného prehľadu existujúcich poznatkov v príslušných oblastiach a disciplínach dizertačná práca zhŕňa poznatky z dvoch rôznych empirických výskumných štúdií, pričom využíva zmiešaný metodický prístup s cieľom poskytnúť diferencované pochopenie dynamiky transformácie. Prvá empirická štúdia využíva kvalitatívne rozhovory na zachytenie pohľadov kľúčových zainteresovaných aktérov zapojených do automobilového priemyslu. Druhá štúdia využíva výskumný prístup tzv. Q metodológie, aby identifikovala diskurzy pracujúcich automobilového priemyslu. Pozornosť je zameraná na zmenu paradigmy smerom k alternatívnym technológiám mobility s cieľom identifikovať ich príležitosti a výzvy aj vo vzťahu k celospoločenskej sociálno-ekologickej transformácii smerom k dekarbonizácii. Táto štúdia zdôrazňuje dôležitosť uznania rôznych perspektív, ktoré existujú medzi pracujúcimi, a odhaľuje tri základné diskurzy o transformácii automobilového priemyslu na elektromobilitu. Existencia rôznych perspektív poukazuje na potrebu komplexného výskumu, politík a strategických plánov na zvládnutie zložitosti tejto dynamickej a kontextuálne špecifickej priemyselnej a spoločenskej zmeny, pričom sa zdôrazňuje význam triedy pracujúcich na dosiahnutie úspešnej a udržateľnej sociálne ekologickej transformácie.

Abstract:

This dissertation explores the complex relationships between societal, economic and environmental dimensions in industrial production, with a focus on the automotive industry. Research specifically addresses the concept of a just transition, investigating the roles of various stakeholders. In particular, the study places particular emphasis on the influence of blue-collar workers in the industry's shift toward alternative vehicle production. The theoretical chapters underscore the profound impact of production and labour on environmental crises, advocating a critical examination of employment dynamics and worker perspectives. The subsequent chapter examines the historical and social context of the automotive industry, emphasising the paradoxes in pursuing greener production and highlighting the crucial role of workers and their struggles in shaping the industry's and society's sustainable evolution. Drawing on a comprehensive review of existing knowledge in relevant fields and disciplines, the dissertation incorporates insights from two distinct empirical research studies, employing a mixed-method approach to provide a nuanced understanding of the dynamics at play. The first empirical study uses qualitative interviews to capture the rich narratives of key stakeholders involved in the automotive industry. The latter study employs the Q-methodology research approach to explore automotive workers' perspectives on the paradigm shift towards alternative mobility technologies, aiming to identify opportunities and challenges in their contribution to a society-wide social-ecological transformation towards decarbonisation. This study highlights the importance of recognising the diverse perspectives that exist between workers and reveals three primary discourses among them on the transformation of the automotive industry to electromobility. The existence of diverse perspectives highlights the need for comprehensive research, policies, and strategic plans to navigate the complexities of this dynamic and context-specific industrial and societal change, emphasising the importance of a working class to achieve a successful and sustainable social ecological transformation.
