The Level of Interpreting Services from the Perspective of Deaf Clients

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je Úroveň tlumočnických služeb z pohledu neslyšících klientů. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a empirickou. Jejím cílem je zhodnotit úroveň tlumočnických služeb jednoho konkrétního poskytovatele v Moravskoslezském kraji - Centra služeb pro neslyšící a nedoslýchavé, o.p.s. a navrhnout doporučení k jejich zkvalitnění. Za účelem dosažení cíle bylo realizováno dotazníkové šetření se záměrem zjistit, jak jsou neslyšící klienti spokojeni s tlumočnickými službami a s tlumočníky a jaká jsou jejich očekávání v těchto dvou oblastech. Cílovou skupinu tvoří neslyšící klienti výše zmíněného poskytovatele tlumočnických služeb. Ke zpracování bakalářské práce bylo využito metody kvantitativního výzkumu. Technikou sběru dat bylo dotazníkové šetření a výzkumným nástrojem dotazník. Odpovědi respondentů jsou zobrazeny za pomocí grafů, výsledná data jsou vyhodnocena v procentech a komparována s dřívějšími průzkumy na obdobné téma. Dotazníkové šetření prokázalo, že s tlumočnickými službami je spokojeno minimálně 96 % klientů a že celých 60 % neslyšících má s tlumočníky jen pozitivní zkušenosti. Nejčastěji se neslyšící setkali s negativní zkušeností, kdy je tlumočník nerespektoval, nezachoval mlčenlivost či nepředal veškeré informace. V závěru práce jsou uvedena praktická a využitelná doporučení ke zkvalitnění tlumočnických služeb aplikovatelná v praxi.

Abstract:

The topic of the bachelor thesis is The level of interpreting services from the perspective of deaf clients. The work is divided into theoretical and empirical part. Its aim is to evaluate the level of interpreting services of one specific provider in the Moravian-Silesian Region - Centrum služeb pro neslyšící a nedoslýchavé, o.p.s. and make recommendations for their improvement. In order to achieve the goal, a questionnaire survey was conducted to find out how satisfied deaf clients are with interpreting services and interpreters and what their expectations are in these two areas. The target group consists of deaf clients of the above-mentioned interpreting service provider. The method of quantitative research was used to process the bachelor's thesis. The data collection technique was a questionnaire survey and the research tool a questionnaire. Respondents' answers are displayed using graphs, the resulting data are evaluated in percentages and compared with previous surveys on a similar topic. The questionnaire survey showed that at least 96 % of clients are satisfied with interpreting services and that as many as 60 % of the deaf have only positive experiences with interpreters. The deaf most often encountered a negative experience, when the interpreter did not respect them, did not maintain confidentiality or did not pass on all information. At the end of the thesis, practical and usable recommendations for improving the quality of interpreting services applicable in practice are given.
