Impact of migration on the Netherlands as a receiving coutry

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na migraci a její vliv na přijímající země, konkrétně na Nizozemsko, které je v současné době velmi vyhledávanou destinací imigrantů ze všech koutů světa. Imigranti tvoří různorodou skupinu a dopady migrace jsou velmi komplexní; práce se věnuje ekonomickému aspektu migrace s částečným společenským přesahem. Práce si klade za cíl rozlišit a objasnit potenciální negativní či pozitivní dopady migrace na nizozemskou ekonomiku. Obsahem práce je analýza statistických dat a vlastního dotazníkového šetření a porovnání odvozovaného vlivu migrace s dopady plynoucími z teorií či jejich prvků, popř. se závěry jiných studií. Vliv na ekonomiku (i společnost) se různí v závislosti na charakteristikách migranta, rozlišuji proto mezi skupinami migrantů s ohledem např. na vzdělání, vyspělost země původu či účel migrace. Ekonomické a společenské prvky, na kterých zkoumám dopady migrace, jsou mj. produktivita, integrace a nezaměstnanost na (ne)populárních pozicích.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with migration and its impact on receiving countries, in particular, the Netherlands, which is currently considered to be a popular migration destination, attracting people from countries around the globe. The immigrants are not a homogenous group and the impacts of migration are very complex; thus, the focus of the thesis is set on the economic aspect of migration with an overlap to society. The thesis aims to distinguish and clarify the potential negative or positive impacts of migration on the Netherlands‘ economy. The main content of the thesis is an analysis of statistical data and the author’s survey and following comparison of from the statistics and survey derived impacts of migration with the impacts deduced from the migration theories or their elements, or, if relevant, with the outcomes of other author‘s studies. The impact on economics (and society as well) depends on a migrant’s characteristics, such as education, the sending country’s level of development or aim of migration; this fact is being respected in the thesis. The economic and sociologic elements which are to be studied are e.g. productivity, integration, and unemployment in (un)popular jobs.
