The psyche of mothers of premature babies

Abstract:

Úvod: Tématem bakalářské práce je "Psychika žen u předčasně narozených dětí". Předčasně narozené děti jsou ty, které se narodily před ukončeným 37. gestačním týdnem. (Binder 2014) Nedonošené děti můžeme rozdělovat do několika skupin. Předčasný porod doprovází několik příčin a rizikových faktorů vyžadující adekvátní řešení. S předčasným narozením souvisí i poměrně velké množství komplikací, které se odvíjí od stupně nedonošenosti. Tuto klasifikaci, příčiny, rizikové faktory, řešení a komplikace najdeme níže v bakalářské práci. Cíl práce: Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce bylo analyzovat psychiku žen po předčasném porodu. Dále byly stanoveny dílčí cíle, mezi které například patří zjistit, zda je ženám nabízena a zda využívají odbornou psychologickou pomoc. Metodika: Kvantitativní přístup průzkumu byl prováděn formou nestandardizovaného dotazníku vlastní konstrukce (viz příloha C), jehož součástí byl standardizovaný dotazník "Edinburské skóre", který slouží k posouzení poporodních depresí. Dotazník byl distribuován pomocí sociálních sítí, organizací Nedoklubko a dvou perinatologických center. Zkoumaným souborem byly ženy bez ohledu parity a věku, které rodily mezi 24. a 36. týdnem a rodily v posledních osmi měsících z důvodu aktuálnosti dat (N = 112). Sběr dat probíhal od 01. 02. 2022 do 20. 03. 2022. Výsledky byly vyhodnoceny formou popisné statistiky. Výsledky: Z dat vyplývá, že většina žen po předčasném porodu cítí strach, obavu a úzkost (N = 73). Data poukazují, že většina žen neměla možnost své pocity probrat s psychologem. Některé výsledky byly velmi překvapivé, například vyhodnocení "Edinburského skóre" kdy téměř polovina žen (N = 53) by mohla trpět depresivním onemocněním. Závěr: Porod sám o sobě je velmi psychicky i fyzicky náročný. U předčasného porodu se setkáváme s dalším velkým množstvím rizik a komplikací. Proto je nutné, aby matky byly dobře informovány o průběhu jejich porodu a o možných následcích. Dále je žádoucí, aby ženy cítily podporu ze strany porodních asistentek, které by měly zajistit multioborovou péči.

Abstract:

Preface: The subject matter of this thesis is "Psychology in women with prematurely delivered children". For a baby to be considered prematurely delivered it takes to be born before the finish of the 37th gestational week. (Binder 2014) We can subsequently sort such children into different categories. Premature deliveries have various causations and are often accompanied by several risk factors requiring adequate solutions. There are many other complications related to premature deliveries in general that depend on the level of prematurity of the baby. Such classification, causations, risk factors, solutions and complications are the exact subject of my thesis. Purpose: The main purpose of this thesis was to assess the psyche of women with prematurely delivered children. The secondary purpose was to find out if mentioned women are able to get and actively seek professional psychological help. Methodology: The quantitative method of gaining data was a non-standardized personally constructed survey (see attachment C), that included standardized questions according to The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression scale as well. The survey was distributed across various social media sites, the organisation Nedoklubko and two perinatological centres. The focus group of the research were women, regardless of their parity or age, who gave birth between the 24th and 36th week of pregnancy and the delivery happened in the last eight months due to the topicality of the matter (N = 112). Gaining data took place between the 01. 02. 2022 and 20. 03. 2022. The data analysis was evaluated in the form of descriptive statistics. Results: The research results show that the majority of women with prematurely delivered children suffer from anxiety and fear (N = 73). We could also see that most of the women weren't able to go through their feelings with a psychologist. Some of the results were very surprising, for example almost half of the surveyed women (N = 53) had symptoms indicating postpartum depression. Conclusion: Birth itself is extremely physically and mentally difficult and with premature deliveries there are even more risks and complications. It is highly important to educate the mothers about the course of the birth and its possible consequences. The midwife's job should be providing the needed support and multidisciplinary care for the mother.
