Mobile application security testing

Abstract:

Teoretická část je uvedena představením základní terminologie a teorie (kybernetického) bezpečnostního managementu a aplikací. Větší pozornost je věnovaná mobilním aplikacím, které jsou vyčleněny do vlastní kapitoly. Teoretická část je zakončena shrnutím základních poznatků o testování bezpečnosti mobilních aplikací. Analytická část obsahuje analýzu konkrétní mobilní aplikace, sestavení plánu bezpečnostního testování a analýzu tohoto testování pro danou aplikaci. Výstupy práce představují modelování hrozeb pro konkrétní mobilní aplikaci a v návrhové části sestavení unikátního kontrolního seznamu pro testování bezpečnosti dané mobilní aplikace. Na základě kontrolního seznamu je ověřena bezpečnost. Objevené zranitelnosti mají ohodnocenou závažnost a je pro ně stanovena priorita z hlediska důležitosti opravy. Závěrem práce je uvedeno protiopatření, které by mělo vést ke zvýšení zabezpečení dané aplikace.

Abstract:

The theoretical part is introduced by introducing the basic terminology and theory of (cyber) security management and applications. More attention is paid to mobile applications, which are allocated to their own chapter. The theoretical part concludes with a summary of the basic knowledge about mobile application security testing. The analytical part includes the analysis of a specific mobile application, the construction of a security testing plan and the analysis of this testing for the application. The outputs of the thesis are the threat modeling for a specific mobile application and in the design part, the construction of a unique checklist for testing the security of a given mobile application. Based on the checklist, the security is verified. The discovered vulnerabilities are given a severity rating and are prioritized in terms of importance to fix. Finally, the paper concludes with the countermeasures that should lead to increase the security of the given application.
