Changes in the concept of childhood and parenthood: Life with a child with disabilities from the perspective of the family

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na problematiku života rodiny s handicapovaným dítětem. Nejprve popíše přístupy sociálních věd k postižení a představy o normativním dětství a rodičovství. Zajímá se o to, jak se tyto konstrukce rolí a procesu výchovy promění s narozením handicapovaného dítěte a jakou roli při tom hrají vlivy sociálního okolí (neformálních sociálních sítí či institucí). Informanty jsou nejen rodiče, ale i sourozenci dítěte. Práce je založena na vlastním kvalitativním terénním výzkumu s rodinami. Hlavní metodou je interview - technika polostrukturovaného rozhovoru, doplněné pozorováním.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the problems of the life of a family with a handicapped child. First, it describes the approaches of social sciences to disability and the concept of normative childhood and parenthood. It is interested in how these constructions of roles and the process of childrearing will change with the birth of a handicapped child and what role is played in this process by the social environment (informal social networks or institutions). The informants are not only the parents but also the child's siblings. The work is based on own qualitative fieldwork with families. The main method is a semi-structured interview supplemented by observation.
