Suicide rate analysis in the economic context

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vztahem mezi vybranými, ne jen ekonomickými veličinami a mírou sebevražd České republiky. Vybrané ekonomické faktory jsou: vývoj hospodářského cyklu, nezaměstnanost a příjmy obyvatel. Mezi indikátorem důvěry spotřebitelů jakožto ukazatelem hospodářského cyklu a mírou sebevražd práce potvrdila nepřímou závislost. Naopak mezi registrovanou mírou nezaměstnanosti a mírou sebevražd byla prokázána závislost přímá. Vztah mezi indexem reálných mezd a mírou sebevražd potvrzen nebyl. Neekonomický faktor, u kterého byla prokázána nepřímá závislost, je počet obyvatel ve věku 65 a více let.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with relationship between selected economic as well as non-economic quantities and the suicide rate in the Czech Republic. The selected economic quantities are: business cycle, unemployment and population incomes. There was indirect dependence proven between consumer confidence as the index of the business cycle and the suicide rate. On the contrary, the relationship between registered unemployment rate and the suicide rate showed direct dependence. However, the research did not confirm a relationship between real wage index and the suicide rate. As for non-economic factors, there was indirect correlation proven between 65 and older population and the suicide rate.
