Factors influencing the teacher's biophile orientation and his approach to (environmental) education

Abstract:

Cílem disertační práce je postihnout stěžejní aspekty ovlivňující vývoj biofilně/propřírodně orientovaného učitele a jeho přístup k výchově, a následně předložit jeho portrét, který je v disertační práci označován jako bioprofil. Teoretická část práce představuje filosofickou a pedagogickou platformu, z níž disertační práce čerpá. Z filosofického hlediska je stěžejní koncepce evoluční ontologie, která nám umožňuje pochopení podstaty soudobé ekologické krize. Z pedagogického hlediska práce vychází především z klíčových myšlenek ekosociální teorie vzdělávání, která poukazuje na aktuální společenské problémy a požaduje, aby byly ve výchovně-vzdělávacím procesu náležitě reflektovány. Jako zastřešující metodologický diskurz byla zvolena kvalitativní metodologie. Pro sběr a interpretaci dat byla využita biografická metoda životní historie v kombinaci s narativním, fenomenologickým a hermeneutickým přístupem. Výsledný bioprofil, který vychází primárně ze spontánní narace respondentů, propojuje tři vzájemně se podmiňující dimenze, které vzešly z analýzy a komparace získaných dat. Právě metoda životní historie umožnila postupně rozkrýt vzájemnou provázanost detekovaných oblastí a jejich souvislost s propřírodním zaměřením jedince. Toto specifické zaměření jedince totiž není jednoduše kvantitativně uchopitelné a ve své celistvosti je lze adekvátněji vyjádřit na základě znalosti životních drah respondentů a pochopení jejich osoby, priorit a cílů. Skupinu respondentů tvořili čtyři učitelé, kteří byli vybíráni na základě předem stanovených kritérií. V disertační práci jsme se pokusili zachytit zásadní aspekty vývoje biofilní orientace a pedagogického myšlení učitele. Zjistili jsme, že biofilní orientace učitele a z ní vycházející způsob pedagogického myšlení jsou výsledkem spolupůsobení vnějších a vnitřních činitelů. Přestože není možné představit množinu všech určujících činitelů a kvalit lze, na základě analýzy a komparace jednotlivých životních příběhů, formulovat podobné znaky a vzorce, které nám dovolují předložit bioprofil propřírodně zaměřeného učitele. Specifičnost výzkumného šetření spočívá v tom, že nabízí komplexnější pohled na takto orientovaného učitele. Prostřednictvím zkoumání životní historie každého respondenta jsme nejen identifikovali zásadní činitele, kteří se podíleli na jeho propřírodní orientaci, ale podařilo se nám též hlouběji po-rozumět jeho osobnosti a pochopit způsob jeho pedagogického myšlení.

Abstract:

The research problem covered by the dissertation thesis represents the factors which influenced the teacher´s biophile/pro-environmental orientation, and at the same time their specific approach to the (environmental) education and their pedagogical thinking in the whole. In the theoretical part of the dissertation thesis both, relevant philosophical and pedagogical concepts are introduced. From the philosophical point of view, the conception of evolutionary ontology is fundamental as it allows us to understand the essence of the contemporary ecological crisis. From the pedagogical point of view, the work builds on eco-social theory of education which is a conception pointing at current social problems and requiring them to be properly reflected in the educational process. In order to fulfill the goal of the research and to answer its questions, a qualitative approach was chosen. Within this approach, the life history method was used. The group of respondents consisted of four teachers whose profiles corresponded with the set beforehand criteria. The outcomes of the research, based on the analysis and comparison of the individually examined cases, were used to create and present the so-called bioprofile of a pro-environmentally oriented teacher. By the term bioprofile we understand the overall life picture of a person. The final outcomes are the result of the mutual cooperation between the respondents and the researcher. We found out that it is not possible to specify the whole group of the factors and aspects which determine the biophile orientation of a teacher and the way of their pedagogical thinking. Neverthless, during the the analysis and comparison of individual life stories we detected so many similar characteristics that allowed us to create and submit a bioprofile of a pro-environmentally oriented teacher. The specificity of our research is that it offers a more complex view of such teacher. By exploring the life history of each respondent, we have not only identified the essential factors which influenced their biophile orientation, but we also managed to understand their personality and the way of their pedagogical thinking more deeper.
