Panic Buying in COVID-19

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou panického nakupování (panic buying) a křečkování produktů (stockpiling). Cílem této práce bylo identifikovat aspekty spotřebitelského chování, které se změnily vlivem pandemie Covid-19. Tento cíl byl naplněn provedením vlastního smíšeného výzkumu na základě rozhovorů a dotazníkového šetření, kdy byl zvolen přístup paralelního výzkumu tak, aby bylo splněno pravidlo triangulace dat. V teoretické části práce je rozpracována daná problematika ve dvou hlavních kapitolách: spotřebitelské chování v krizi a panické nakupování. Praktická část práce obsahuje popis a odůvodnění zvolené metodiky práce, přiblížení tvorby vlastního výzkumu, který vycházel z aktuálních zahraničních studií. Dále zahrnuje představení výzkumného vzorku, paralelní analýzu získaných dat a jejich interpretaci. Na závěr je prezentováno shrnutí výsledků výzkumu a jejich diskuse v kontextu jednotlivě položených výzkumných otázek.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with the issue of panic buying and stockpiling. The aim of this thesis was to identify aspects of consumer behavior that have changed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. This goal was fulfilled by conducting mixed research on the basis of interviews and a questionnaire survey, where the approach of parallel research was chosen so that the rule of data triangulation was met. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the issue is elaborated in two main chapters: consumer behavior in crisis and panic buying. The practical part of the thesis contains a description and justification of the chosen methodology, approximation of the creation of research by thesis author, which was based on current foreign studies. It also includes the presentation of the research sample, parallel analysis of the obtained data and their interpretation. Finally, a summary of research results and their discussion in the context of individually asked research questions is presented.
