South Caucasus at the intersection of interests

Abstract:

Předmětem mé diplomové práce „Jižní Kavkaz v průsečíku zájmů“ je porovnat hospodářsko-politické zájmy a aktivity Ruska, Číny, Turecka, EU, USA a Íránu ve státech jižního Kavkazu v období od roku 2001 do současnosti. Má práce je rozdělena na dvě části. V první části představím region jižního Kavkazu jako celek a následně jeho jednotlivé země. V druhé části budu studovat zájmy i aktivity mezinárodních aktérů a následně porovnávat jejich vliv. Porovnáním zájmů a aktivit aktérů v regionu jižního Kavkazu získám ucelenou představu o situaci v Arménii, Ázerbájdžánu a v Gruzii.

Abstract:

The object of my master’s thesis called “South Caucasus at the inter-section of interests” is to compare the economic and political interests and activities of Russia, China, Turkey, the EU, the USA and Iran in the states of the South Caucasus in the period from 2001 to the present. My thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part, I will present the South Caucasus region as a whole and then its individual countries. In the second part, I will study the interests and activities of international actors and then compare their influence. By comparing the interests and activities of the actors in the South Caucasus region, I will get a comprehensive picture of the situation in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
