Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na oblast strategického plánování, rozpočtování a finančních předpovědí z pohledu globálně působící logistické společnosti. Motivace věnovat diplomovou práci tomuto tématu byla založena na významu použití těch nejvhodnějších a nejefektivnějších procesů, metod a nástrojů v této manažerské činnosti, která podstatně ovlivňuje výkonnost podniku a tím i jeho budoucí hodnotu. V první části práce je popsán propojený proces plánování, rozpočtování a finančního předpovídání, kdy každá z těchto aktivit má svou specifickou funkci v rámci strategického plánováni a následném provádění. Zvláštní pozornost byla věnována předpovídání – významnému nástroji pro strategické plánování a rozhodování vrcholového managementu společnosti. Teoretické část je zakončena popisem několika metod sloužících k měření přesnosti předpovědí. Aplikační část této práce je zaměřena na následující cíle: 1. Nalezení relevantních ekonomických ukazatelů ovlivňujících zkoumané finanční proměnné (hrubou marži). 2. Změření a zhodnocení přesnosti minulých rozpočtů a předpovědí. 3. Testování popsaných metod předpovědí na historických datech a následné navržení alternativních nástrojů oproti těm v současnosti používaných s cílem zvýšit přesnost a věrohodnost finančních predikcí. V závěru práce je vyjádřeno přesvědčení v dostatek potenciálu v rámci zkoumaného předmětu pro další výzkum i pro aplikaci pokročilých metod předpovědí ve firemním plánovacím procesu.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the subject of strategic business planning, budgeting and forecasting within a globally active logistics corporation. The intention to compose a thesis on the above mentioned topics was based on the fact of major importance of best possible processes, methods and tools used in these managerial activities affecting the company’s overall performance and thus its future value. In the first part of the thesis I have described the interlinked process of planning, budgeting and forecasting, each having a specific part in a company’s strategic setting and execution process. Special attention was dedicated to the forecasting activity – a significant tool for strategic decision making of senior corporate management. The theoretical part was concluded by describing several forecasting accuracy measurement methods. The application part of the thesis was aimed on following tasks: 1. Defining relevant economy indicators with proven dependency on the financial variables in question (gross margin). 2. Measuring and assessing accuracy of past budgets and forecasts. 3. Testing the previously defined forecasting methods on historical financial data and proposing alternative forecasting tools to the currently used methods leading possibly to more accurate and reliable forecasts. The thesis is concluded with the belief that there is enough potential in the presented subject for further research as well as application of the advanced forecasting methodology in the firm’s business planning processes.
