Stability of Amorphous Drugs

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá studiem stability amorfních léčiv, se zaměřením v experimentální části na léčivo nifedipin. Amorfní formy léčiv jsou důležité z hlediska jejich biologické dostupnosti, avšak jejich nestabilita může omezit jejich praktické využití. Práce zkoumá různé aspekty fyzikální a tepelné stability amorfních látek pomocí metod termické analýzy. Hlavním cílem práce je analyzovat vliv různých faktorů, jako je příměs polymeru polyvinylpyrrolidonu (PVP10), velikost části či doba skladování na stabilitu amorfního nifedipinu. Výsledky experimentální části ukazují, jak příměsi a podmínky zpracování ovlivňují krystalizaci a tepelnou stabilitu amorfních léčiv.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the study of the stability of amorphous drugs, focusing in the experimental part on the drug nifedipine. Amorphous forms of drugs are important in terms of their bioavailability, but their instability may limit their practical use. This thesis investigates various aspects of the physical and thermal stability of amorphous compounds using thermal analysis methods. The main objective of this work is to analyze the effect of various factors such as polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP10) polymer admixture, particle size or storage time on the stability of amorphous nifedipine. The results of the experimental part show how admixture and processing conditions affect the crystallization and thermal stability of amorphous drugs.
