Employee Engagement in Global Virtual Teams

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá tématem pracovní angažovanosti zaměstnanců pracujících v globálních virtuálních týmech (GVT), jež je vzhledem k rostoucímu podílu této formy práce tématem velice aktuálním. Cílem této práce je především zhodnotit, které faktory ovlivňují angažovanost zaměstnanců v GVT, ať už pozitivně či negativně. Pro naplnění cíle práce byla vybrána metoda případové studie zaměstnanců mezinárodní firmy X. Pomocí dotazníkového šetření a následné analýzy dat bylo zkoumáno, jaká je úroveň angažovanosti respondentů dané firmy, a které faktory tuto úroveň ovlivňují. Výzkum potvrdil, že na angažovanost zaměstnanců v GVT mají vliv jak specifické faktory pro GVT, například počet dní vzdálené práce, faktor týmové identity nebo příležitosti k budování vztahů skrz teambuilding a networking, tak i faktory tradiční. Na základě výsledků výzkumu byla taktéž formulována doporučení manažerům ohledně zvýšení angažovanosti ve firmě X.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the topic of work engagement of employees working in global virtual teams (GVTs), which is very up to date topic given to the growing share of this form of work. The main aim of this thesis is to evaluate which factors influence employee engagement in GVTs, either positively or negatively. In order to fulfil the aim of the thesis, the case study method of employees of international company X was chosen. Using a questionnaire survey and subsequent data analysis, the level of engagement of the respondents in the given firm and the factors that influence this level were investigated. The research has confirmed that GVT specific factors such as the number of days of remote work, the team identity factor or opportunities for relationship building through team building and networking as well as traditional factors have an impact on employee engagement in GVTs. Based on the research results, recommendations have been formulated to managers on how to increase engagement in company X.
