System of Tourism Management in Prague with a Focus on MICE

Abstract:

Přední evropské MICE destinace považují kongresový cestovní ruch za významný obchodní artikl, kterému je třeba věnovat náležitou pozornost. Systém řízení cestovního ruchu se tak stává odrazem podpory odvětví v dané destinaci a zároveň faktorem, který informuje o stavu komunikace a koordinace mezi zainteresovanými subjekty cestovního ruchu. Tato práce nabízí současný pohled na systém řízení cestovního ruchu v Praze s dopady na uvedený segment MICE. Věnuje se zejména organizacím, v jejichž působnosti se MICE nachází, koncepčním dokumentům cestovního ruchu, finanční struktuře vybraných organizací, ekonomickým přínosům odvětví a v neposlední řadě otázce současných statistických ukazatelů. Součástí práce je komparace Prahy ve zvolených ukazatelích s vybranými evropskými metropolemi s cílem demonstrovat současný stav řízení a jeho další možný vývoj na modelech, které v Evropě fungují.

Abstract:

Leading European destinations consider MICE tourism as a significant business item which needs a special attention. The system of tourism management thus reflects the support of this industry in the destination and, at the same time, it represents a factor that indicates the state of communication and coordination between all entities involed in the field. This thesis offers current view of the system of tourism management in Prague and its impact on MICE tourism. It especially focuses on the organizations responsible for MICE tourism, conceptual documents of tourism, the financial structure of particular organizations, economic benefits of the industry, and finally on the issue of current statistical indicators. The thesis also includes the comparison of Prague and individual European capitals within selected indicators in order to demonstrate the present state of the tourism management and its further possible development using the models that exist in Europe.
