Career in the eyes of teacher

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá profesní dráhou učitele s akcentem na individuální vnímání této dráhy samotnými učiteli. V teortické části se věnuje několika pojetím vývoje profesní dráhy učitele, především pak systémovému modelu vývoje učitele dle Fesslera (1995), který se snaží nahlédnout problematiku v celé své komplexnosti. Dále popisuje na základě dosavadních poznatků, zejména výzkumů založených na life-history přístupu, jednotlivé fáze profesní dráhy učitele a to především z perspektivy učitele a v komplexnosti celého jeho života. V závěru teoretické části se práce zabývá konceptem „zlomových událostí“. „Zlomové události“ jsou v tomto pojetí (především autorů Sikes, Measor & Woodse, 1985) představovány jako katalyzující události pro posun z jedné fáze profesní dráhy učitele do jiné a mohou mít mnoho podob. Ve výzkumné části se pak práce zaměřuje na to, jaké příběhy své profesní dráhy jednotliví učitelé vyprávějí a co ji podle nich významně ovlivňovalo. Respondenty tvoří bývalí učitelé – učitelé v důchodu - a zpětně svoji dráhu reflektují. Jako základní interpretační metodologický diskurz je tedy zvolen kvalitativní přístup s použitím biografického a narativního designu. Výzkumným nástrojem je narativní rozhovor a jako pomocná technika je využita metoda Čáry života. Výsledky práce tvoří pět rekonstrukcí příběhů profesních dráh učitelů, identifikace tří diskurzů, v jejichž rámci učitelé své příběhy vyprávějí, a šest kategorií, shrnující témata, jimž se učitelé v rámci vyprávění o své profesní dráze nejvíce věnovali.

Abstract:

The paper deals with the teacher's career with an emphasis on individual perceptions of this career by teachers themselves. In the theoretical part, it deals with several development concepts of teacher's career especially with the systemic model of teacher's development according to Fessler (1995) who tries to inspect problems in all their complexity. It also describes - on the basis of the present knowledge, especially the research results based on the life-history approach - individual stages of teacher's career and especially from the teacher's point of view and in the complexity of their lives. In conclusion of the theoretical part, the work deals with the concept of "critical incidents". "The critical incidents" are presented in this concept (especially by authors Sikes, Measor & Woodse, 1985) as a catalyzing events to move from one stage of teacher's career to another one and they can adopt many forms. In the research part, the work concentrates on the career stories told by individual teachers and on the aspects affecting their career significantly. The respondents are former teachers - retired teachers - who reflect their career retrospactively. The qualitative approach employing biographical and narrative design has been chosen as the basic interpretative methodological discourse. The narrative interview is used as a research tool and the method Lines of life as an auxiliary method. The work results are represented by five reconstructions of teacher's career, identification of three discourses within the framework of which the teachers tell their stories and six categories summarizing the topics which the teachers dealt with in their stories most often.
