Understanding of reading text by third grades pupils in their mother tongue in the Czech republic and Pennsylvania (based on the comparative test PSSA)

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je porovnat ročníků u žáků třetích ročníků porozumění jejich čtenému textu v jejich mateřském jazyce v České republice a Pensylvánii. Obsah teoretické části je věnován čtení a jeho metodám, čtenářské gramotnosti a jejímu rozvoji u žáků mladšího školního věku. Je představen také srovnávací test PSSA. V praktické části jsou srovnány výsledky čtenářské části testu v Pensylvánii s výsledky žáků v České republice. Na základě zjištěných výsledků je pozornost soustředěna na odchylky měření u čtenářů vzdělávajících se analyticko-syntetickou metodou versus genetickou metodou čtení, které jsou porovnány. Naznačují, že čtenářská gramotnost u žáků třetího ročníku v České republice a Pensylvánii se výrazně neliší. Nicméně zde nacházíme nápadné rozdíly mezi čtenáři vzdělávajícími se pomocí dvou odlišných metod čtení v České republice.

Abstract:

The main aim of the thesis is to compare the third grades pupils in the understanding of reading text in their mother tongue in the Czech Republic and Pennsylvania. The theoretical part deals with reading and its methods, reading literacy and its development at younger school age pupils. It descirbes the PSSA comparison test. The practical part compares the results of the reading part of the test in Pennsylvania with the results of students in the Czech Republic. Based on the results, it deals with measurement deviations at readers educated by the analytical-synthetic method versus the genetic method of reading, which it compares. The results suggest that reading literacy among the third grades students in the Czech Republic and Pennsylvania does not differ signigicantly. However, here we find striking differences between readers educated by two different methods of reading in the Czech republic.
