Ecofeminist Perspective on the Work of John Steinbeck

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the woman/nature relationship in selected works by an American writer John Steinbeck. It consists of two main parts: theory and critical analysis. In the first part, the fundamental principles and historical background of ecofeminism are highlighted. The second part deals with critical analysis of the production narrative, ecorape and the metaphor of a female body with the emphasis on the ecofeminist aspects in relation to Steinbeck's writing style.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá metaforou přírody jako ženy ve vybraných dílech amerického spisovatele Johna Steinbecka. Skládá se ze dvou hlavních částí: teorie a kritické analýzy. V první části jsou vystiženy základní principy ekofeminismu a historické pozadí daného hnutí. Druhá část obsahuje kritickou analýzu tématu reprodukce, metafory znásilnění země a metafory ženského těla s důrazem na ekofeministické aspekty v rámci Steinbeckovy tvorby.
