Preparation and implementation of an international congress and its accompanying program in hotel congress activity departments

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na charakteristiku kongresového cestovního ruchu a analýzu činnosti hotelového kongresového oddělení hotelu Olšanka při pořádání mezinárodního kongresu. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou, analytickou a návrhovou část. První část byla zpracována na základě odborné literatury a charakterizuje kongresový cestovní ruch. Přibližuje jeho historii, současnost, předmět, funkce a také teoretický popis organizování kongresové akce. Praktická část se především zaměřuje na analýzu činnosti konkrétní hotelu při pořádání kongresové akce. Porovnává teorii s praxí a přibližuje trh kongresového cestovního ruchu a postavení analyzovaného hotelu na něm. Tato část vychází z přímého dotazování, swot analýzy a odborné literatury. V poslední části jsou zmiňovaná doporučení, která by mohla dopomoci hotelu k lepšímu postavení na trhu a poskytování komplexnějších služeb. Cílem práce je zanalyzovat daný hotel a jeho činnosti při pořádání mezinárodní kongresové akce a také zda je schopen tuto akci zajistit.

Abstract:

My paper is focusing on characteristics of conference and event management market and analysis of functionality of conference and congress department in Hotel Olsanka during hosting an international congress. My paper is divided into 3 parts - theoretical ,analytical and suggestions and recommendations. First section is based on relevant literature and is characterising conference and congress market. It describes its history, current situation, roles and also theoretical description of organization of such event. Practical part is mostly analyzing functionality and procedures of specific hotel while hosting congress event. It is comparing theory with the actual situation and describes congress market and current situation of analyzed hotel on the market. This section is based on questionnaires, direct research, swot analysis and relevant literature. Last section contains suggestions and recommendations, which could help this hotel improving its position on the market as well as be able to provide more complex services. The purpose of this paper is analyzing this particular hotel, its functionality and ability to deliver event such as conference or congress.
