Comparative price levels of consumer goods and services in the European countries

Abstract:

In this final bachelor work I present changes in prices of selected essential goods and services in various European countries. Price levels are expressed as an index of household consumption and compared to the base year of 2005. In adittion, the work is devoted to provision and mechanism of minimum wages in European countries that make up the so-called wage threshold and thus the lowest level of appreciation for their work. The aim of this work is to show up evolution in nominal minimum wages in these countries and to determine whether the amount is subject to changes of price levels. Based on the model situation I reach the individual conclusions for each country. In response to changes in minimum wages and household consumption of goods and services I evaluated, whether changes of prices have impact on setting the minimum wage, or whether these changes are ignored.

Abstract:

V tejto záverečnej bakalárskej práci prezentujem zmeny cenových hladín vybraných základných tovarov a služieb v rôznych krajinách Európy. Cenové hladiny sú vyjadrené indexom spotreby domácností a porovnávané voči základnému roku 2005. Popri tom sa práca venuje ustanoveniu a mechanizmu tvorby minimálnych miezd v krajinách Európy, ktoré tvoria tzv. mzdový prah a teda sú najnižšou úrovňou pre ocenenie za prácu. Cieľom práce je priblížiť vývoj nominálnych minimálnych miezd v týchto krajinách a určiť, či výška týchto miezd podlieha zmenám cenových hladín. Na základe modelovej situácie potom dospievam k samostatným záverom pre každú krajinu. V závislosti na zmenách minimálnych miezd a spotreby domácností na tovary a služby vyhodnocujem, či pri nastavení minimálnej mzdy na vývoj cien prihliada, alebo či sa ignoruje.
