Abstract:

Lancmanová, T. Vliv pozornosti investorů na trh zlata. Diplomová práce. Brno: Men-delova univerzita v Brně, 2024. Cílem práce je determinace faktorů majících vliv na výnosnost futures kon-traktů zlata a vybraného ETF krytého zlatem. Dílčím cílem je potom prokázání vlivu pozornosti investora měřené pomocí nástroje Google Trends. V literární části práce je zpracována teorie komoditních trhů spolu s futures kontrakty a ETF. Následuje literární rešerše vědeckých článků a jiných publikací, na jejímž základě jsou identi-fikovány hlavní faktory ovlivňující výnosnost zlata. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována pozornosti investora a metodám jejího měření. V empirické části je potom metodou nejmenších čtverců provedena regresní analýza. Výsledkem je potvrzení vlivu směnného kurzu amerického dolaru, pozornosti investora a minulé výnosnosti vy-braných instrumentů zlata na výnosnost zlata. Za účelem ověření výsledků je prove-dena analýza robustnosti, v rámci níž je časový úsek rozdělen na dva menší. Síla amerického dolaru se ukázala jako faktor, který má vliv i v případě menších časo-vých řad. V období od 2009 do 2015 se potom podařilo prokázat i významnost mi-nulých cen sledovaných instrumentů zlata, na výnosnost ETF měla vliv i pozornost investora. V období let 2016-2023 se vliv minulých výnosů futures a ETF se ukázal nevýznamný.

Lancmanová, T. The effect of Investor Attention on the Gold Market. Master thesis. Brno: Mendel University, 2024. The aim of this work is to determine factors influencing returns of gold fu-tures contracts and selected gold-backed ETF. The sub-aims are to establish an in-fluence of investor attention measured with Google Trends. In the literary part of the work, the theory of commodity markets is elaborated together with futures con-tracts and ETFs. The following is literary research of scientific articles and other publications, on the basis of which the main factors affecting the returns of gold are identified. Special attention is then paid to the investor attention and the methods of its measurement. In the empirical part, regression analysis is performed using the method of ordinary least squares. As a result, exchange rate of the US dollar, the investor attention, and the past returns of gold are confirmed to have an effect on returns of gold. In order to verify the results, a robustness analysis is performed, in which the time period is divided into two shorter ones. The strength of the US dollar has proven to be a factor that has an impact in the case of all smaller time series. In the period from 2009 to 2015, it was possible to demonstrate the effect of the past prices of the monitored gold instruments. Also, investor's attention proved to have an effect on the returns of the ETF. In the period 2016-2023 the past returns of fu-tures and ETFs turned out to be insignificant for that period.
