Práce se zabývá kategorií self u vybraných amerických filosofů - R. W. Emersona, W. Jamese a J. Deweyho. U Emersona se zaměřujeme na koncept self-reliance, na kritiku egoismu často hledanou v jeho filosofii a na ontologické aspekty duše, které jí připisuje ve svých esejích. W. This work analyses a category of self in a philosophy of american authors R. W. Emerson, W. James a J. Dewey. We concern about Emersons conception of self-reliance, the critique of egoism often found in his esseys and the ontological aspects of soul. W.
