Graph Databases and their use

Abstract:

Tato práce se jako celek zabývá grafovými databázemi. Jejím hlavním cílem je výzkum daného tématu a následné využití získaných znalostí v rámci praktické části na konkrétním příkladu. Teoretická část je rozdělena na dvě hlavní části, kde se první část zabývá teorií grafů jakožto nutným úvodem a druhá část se zabývá grafovými databázemi. Praktická část se zabývá vymyšlením a implementací algoritmu pro rozpoznávání stejných identit v rámci grafové databáze. Praktická část začíná výběrem vhodného databázového systému pro implementaci algoritmu a pokračuje jeho popisem. Následuje seznámení se s daty a samotné řešení problému v rámci zvoleného databázového systému.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis main focus is on graph databases. The main objective is to investigate the topic of graph databases, therefore knowledge acquired can be used in a process of solving a real problem in its practical part.The theoretical part of this thesis is divided into two parts, where the first part is centered around Graph theory as a prerequisition for the second part, which is focused on Graph databases.The Practical part main objective is to create and implement an algorithm for finding similar identities in a graph. It starts with a selection of an appropriate database management system for the implementation of the algorithm and continues with a description of the selected database management system. Afterwards the data set used in this thesis is introduced and the algorithm development and implementation in OrientDB follows.
