The History of the Roman Catholic Parish in Kněždub in the 20th Centrury

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá dějinami farnosti Kněždub ve 20. století. Zdejší farnost se skládá ze dvou vesnic Kněždubu a Tvarožné Lhoty, které se nalézají v Jihomoravském kraji. Každá obec disponuje svým chrámem, v centru Kněžduba stojí kostel sv. Jana Křtitele a ve Tvarožné Lhotě se nalézá kostel zasvěcený sv. Anně. Pro lepší pochopení problematiky jsem do textu začlenila nástiny historie obcí a farnosti do 20. století, který osvětlují např. vznik vesnic i farnosti. Následuje část práce, jež se věnuje kostelům sv. Jana Křtitele a sv. Anny. Zejména u kostela sv. Anny se práce zaměřuje na utvoření spolku Kostelní Jednoty, na zajišťování financí, samotnou stavbu a další činnosti. U kostela sv. Jana Křtitele sledujeme jeho vývoj až do nynější podoby. Vedle této architektury jsou zmíněny i drobné sakrální památky. Poslední část je věnována samotným dějinám farnosti, primárně osudům během světových válek, mezidobí a komunistického režimu, dále vnitřními záležitostmi a kooperací s obecním úřadem.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis concerns the history of the Kněždub parish in the 20th century. The local parish consists from two villages, Kněždub and Tvarožná Lhota, which are in the South Moravia district. In the middle of Kněždub there is a church of Saint John the Baptist, and in Tvarožná Lhota there is a church dedicated to Saint Anne. For a better understanding of the issues, I combined the historical text outline of the villages and parishes until the 20th century, which explains for example the founding of the villages and parishes. The following portion of the thesis is focused on the churches of St. John the Baptist and of St. Anne. Regarding the church of St. Anne the work is primarily focused on the founding of the church association for safeguarding finances, structure, and other activities. Concerning the church of St. John the Baptist the work follows the progress of the church up to now. Besides architecture, even minor sacral sights are mentioned. The last section is dedicated to the history of each parish, primarily their fates during the World Wars, the interim, and the communist regime. Furthermore, it relates to inner issues and cooperation between the parish and local authority.
