How do mothers feel caring for their premature baby in its first year of life

Abstract:

Výzkum se zabývá prožíváním matek nedonošených dětí od okamžiku propuštění dítěte z porodnice až do jeho prvních narozenin. Cílem práce bylo identifikovat pocity a potřeby těchto žen, což bylo provedeno za pomoci kvalitativní analýzy dat. Polostrukturované rozhovory provedené s dvanácti ženami, které cvičily se svým dítětem rehabilitaci podle Vojtova principu, byly následně analyzovány za pomoci zakotvené teorie. Tak byly identifikovány pozitivní pocity jako radost z dítěte, jeho života, zdraví a pokroků, radost z kojení, úleva z opuštění porodnice, úleva z odpočinku a další. Mezi negativní pocity patří strach, zklamání, vyčerpání, stres, výčitky, zoufalství, frustrace z rehabilitace a jiné. Jako nejsilněji pociťovaná potřeba se u matek objevila potřeba fyzické pomoci a psychické podpory nejčastěji očekávaná od partnera. Naplnění této potřeby mělo výrazný dopad na partnerský vztah matky. Pokud jí partner pomáhal a podporoval ji, docházelo k posílení jejich vzájemného vztahu, v opačném případě k odcizení nebo dokonce až k potřebě odborné psychické péče. Mezi další potřeby, které ženy pociťovaly, patří potřeba hledání odborníků a potřeba odpočinku.

Abstract:

Research deals with the experience of mothers with premature infants from the moment of release the child from the hospital until his first birthday. The aim was to identify the feelings and needs of these women, as was done with the help of qualitative data analysis. Semistructed interviews with twelve women who have trained with their child according to Vojta rehabilitation principles, were subsequently analyzed using grounded theory. So were identified positive feelings: pleasure from a child's life, its health and progress, pleasure from breastfeeding, relief of leaving the hospital, relief from the rest and more. Among the negative emotions include fear, frustration, exhaustion, stress, remorse, despair, frustration of rehabilitation and other. Like most strongly perceived need for the mother appeared the need physical assistance and psychological support to the most frequently expected from a partner. Fulfillment of this need had a significant impact on the partnership's mother. If her partner helped and supported her, there was a strengthening of their mutual relationship, if not to steal or even the need for professional psychological care. Among other needs, that women felt, are the need to search specialists and the need for rest.
